The Mobile Farmers Market of Greene County began in the summer of 2005. It is a project of Rural Resources (which is a non-profit organization dedicated to, among other goals, developing a locally sustainable system of producing and marketing agricultural projects). The goal of the Mobile Farmers Market is to give persons who have transportation issues a chance to purchase fresh locally grown produce, while giving our local farmers another outlet for their produce. The Mobile Farmers Market has a retired mini-bus donated by our local school system that our farmers market volunteers transformed into a red barn with vegetables. Our Mobile Farmers Market route revolves around but is not limited to several low income neighborhoods and also the elderly. We are handicapped accessible and are currently equipped to accept food stamps.
